SEER - Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating A rating system to relate how efficiently your home air conditioner uses electricity. SEER ratings are published for every air conditioning unit made. The new minimum standard set by the federal government is 13.00, and units come with efficiencies as high as 20 or 21. The higher the number, the more efficient the unit. A 13.00 SEER unit in Rochester will cost approximately $175 to run for an average summer. An 18.00 SEER unit would cost $135.00 based on an average Rochester summer. |
